Directors Meeting - Past Minutes January 19, 2006 Attending: Ken Denne, Phil Rose, Bob Dempsey, Ron Sullivan, Joe Seme, Ray McCurtin, Mike Abernathy and George Wesoloski. The meeting was called to order by President Ken Denne at 11:05 AM. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
President’s Report – Ken reported items to be presented at the annual membership meeting: 1) Jan Tingle will talk about members participating in a golf group called First Tee; 2) Hank Dozier will announce that there are three new events in this year’s Senior Games: billiards, badminton and croquet; 3) John Keane will accept donations for Intercity Youth Activity Fund. 4) Senior Games this year will be held April 11-13. 5) State Games will be Sept. 11-14. 6) Members will be advised that State teams are composed of the best in the league and participation is by invitation only in spite of anyone’s participation in the Senior Games. A discussion followed regarding players that will not be participating in the league for 2006.
Commissioner’s Report – Phil Rose brought up the following topics for discussion: 1) Player Draft – Managers will hold a meeting in mid to end of Feb. to select players and balance teams. 2) Schedules – Phil distributed the schedule of games for the upcoming season. The Atlantic Division will play on Mondays and Thursdays while the Coastal Division will play on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This way the Atlantic Division will not have to play any games at Veterans Park. The Atlantic Division will play a total of 60 schedules games the Coastal Division 56 games. 3) Shortened Games – Whether to shorten games by playing 5 innings or other means should be decided by the individual teams and managers. 4) Mid-Season New Players – New players coming out at mid-season will be assigned following mutual agreement by the managers with final approval by the Board. 5) Board Re-Organization – After discussion, Phil decided to withdraw his proposal for a president of each league.
Old Business – Nominations for President and Secretary will be opened at the Annual Membership Meeting. During the season the teams will be asked for suggestions for suggestions for player representatives. One player representative from each division will be nominated to serve on the Board.
New Business – None There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:05 PM.
