Breaktime Sports Bar & Grill

The WSSA Board of Directors held a meeting on January 13, 2005 at the

Breaktime Sports Bar and Grill. All members of the Board were present. The meeting was called to order by President Ken Deene at 11:03 AM.

·        The minutes of the November 9, 2004 meeting were approved.

·        Treasurer’s Report: Bills submitted by Ken Denne for stamps and envelopes and Phil Rose for Web Site fee. Checkbook total of ~$7000.00 with league balance of ~$3400

·        Commissioner’s Report:

-  Phil received a card from Warren Smith’s wife Pamela.

-  Phil met with the Supper Optimist Club. They are willing to help us in 

   any way they can also they may need help from us.

     - Phil is looking at running smaller ads in the Wilmington Star News.

     - Phil will purchase yellow softballs for the league

   Atlantic – 44 core 525 compression

   Coastal – 44 core 375 compression

- Last year the sponsorship program was not been very productive. Phil

  suggested that every team be assessed a $100.00 to $200.00 sponsor  

  fee. This may entice all teams to go out and recruit sponsors for the  

  league and their team. The majority of the Board thought this was a 

  good idea and should be brought before the membership. Next year it 

  should be made mandatory.

·        League Concerns:

- Phil Kaufman is undergoing treatment at Chapel Hill and awaits a donor 

  for a bone marrow transplant.

     - Joe Narbut is in Florida having tests run for an irregular heart beat.

     - Phil Rose will have a hip replacement on January 25.

·        Items for the General Membership Meetings

- Amendments to By-Laws

     - Election of Officers

     - Draft

     - Schedule

     - Tournament Teams

     - New Players

     - League Fees

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
